This North Olmsted homeowner sustained wind damage that triggered a full insurance claim. While the shingle damage was evident from the outside, the real discovery came during tear-off — the existing 3/8″ plywood decking throughout the entire house had deteriorated significantly, becoming weak, dry, and brittle over time. Decking in this condition lacks the nail holding capacity required for a proper roofing installation and cannot support a new roof system that will perform long term. The gutters had also been damaged and needed full replacement.

Python Roofing worked with the insurance carrier to secure full approval for the replacement including the decking upgrade. The entire roof was torn off and all existing 3/8″ plywood decking was overlaid with new 7/16″ OSB sheeting, bringing the home up to current standards and providing a solid, code-compliant foundation for the new system. RhinoRoof granulated ice & water shield and RhinoRoof U20 synthetic underlayment were installed throughout before the finish materials went on. Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Designer shingles in Pacific Wave were selected, adding a distinctive coastal-inspired aesthetic to the home’s exterior. A complete new gutter system was installed alongside perforated aluminum gutter guards, ensuring proper drainage and low maintenance performance for years to come.
